TEMPE, Ariz. – Seattle University softball led early, but went on to drop a 10-4 contest to Utah on Sunday morning. Three Redhawks had two hits apiece in SU's final game at the Kajikawa Classic, hosted by Arizona State.

After a scoreless first inning, SU struck for a run in the second. Brooke Milder doubled down the leftfield line and Mekenzie Madokoro followed with an infield single that allowed Milder to score the game's first run. Utah replied with a leadoff home run in its half of the second.

Ally Choate led off the third with a base hit, and with one out, Bailey Thompson smashed a double to left that brought Choate home for a 2-1 advantage. The Utes came back with six runs in the bottom of the third, grabbing a 7-2 margin.

Utah scored two more runs in the fourth before the Redhawks put together a rally in the fifth. Cherise Silvan singled and pinch-hitter Stephanie Merwin drove her in with a double to left to get within 9-3.

After the Utes scored to make it 10-3, SU looked to come back in its final at-bat. Thompson was hit by a pitch and Taylor DeDen singled to right. Lily Garcia hit an RBI single to right to plate a run, but the Redhawks couldn't find any more hits to continue the contest.

Madokoro, Garcia, and Olivia Viggiano each had two hits in the game.

The Redhawks return to Arizona for five games next weekend at the Hillenbrand Invitational at the University of Arizona.
