DENVER – Jesse Ortiz of Seattle University men's soccer has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Offensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on Feb. 7. Ortiz, a sophomore, scored two goals in SU's double-overtime win over Gonzaga on Feb. 3.

Ortiz, a Houston native, controlled gameplay from his midfield spot on Wednesday. He scored in the 21st minute, leaping to get his head on a cross and find the back of the net to tie the game at 1. Early in the second half, Ortiz smashed a line drive for a goal as the Redhawks grabbed a 2-1 advantage. They went on to win in double overtime at Championship Field.

The Redhawks travel to Houston Baptist for a WAC game on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. Pacific.
