SEATTLE - Seattle U women's tennis looks to start the season off strong at Washington on Thursday, competing in their first match as a team since February of 2020. This year's team will be lead by first-year head coach Kristina Hollander, as she takes over the reigns of the Redhawk programs after two successful seasons as an assistant coach with San Jose State University.

"We are all very eager to play and grateful to have the opportunity to do so again," said Hollander. "I am really excited for our women to get some very strong matches in against Washington to start the season. These matchups will be a great test and will help us prepare for the rest of the season."

The Redhawks will have one newcomer in talented freshman Safija Nizamic who was named team MVP for the 2019 season at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Wash. Seattle U will be lead by a veteran group, returning nine players from last year's squad including senior Hannah Gianan and sophomore Jade Lancaster.

Over her time at Seattle U, Gianan has twice been named in the WAC Women's Doubles Team of the Week and WAC Women's Singles Athlete of the Week, while also winning 29 singles and 33 doubles matches. As for Lancaster, she will be looking to follow up a successful freshman campaign, where she was named in one WAC Women's Doubles Team of the Week and WAC Women's Singles Player of the Week.
