SEATTLE - Following a season that ended far too early, Seattle U men's golf is looking forward to competing again in 2021. Head Coach Marc Chandonnet has put together a condensed yet strong schedule that includes five total tournaments, taking place from the beginning of February to the end of March. The men's sixth tournament is for the all-important Western Athletic Conference Championship which will take place from April 30-May 2 at the Boulder City Golf Course in Boulder City, Nevada.
"I can't believe it's been over a year since we have competed as a group," said Chandonnet. "They've worked hard through these difficult times and I am unbelievably impressed with the progress each individual has made. This is a group that I am extremely confident in and I cannot express my gratitude enough to them for how they represent our program everyday. With a little bit of self confidence, this group of young men have the ability to accomplish some pretty special things and they will have a couple more years together which is very exciting. This team is resilient and hard working, I look forward to working with them this season."
Seattle U starts the season off on Feb. 7-9 in Fresno, Calif., with a return to the Nick Watney Invitational hosted by Fresno State. Eleven days later they will travel to Palm Desert, Calif., to participate in the University of Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate from Feb. 18-21. Next, they will travel to Bandon, Ore., to once again participate in the Bandon Dunes Invitational from Mar. 5-9. Two weeks later, they will make the trip back to Oregon; this time heading to Eugene to compete in the Oregon Duck Invitational from Mar. 21-23. They end the regular season hosting the Seattle U Redhawk invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., from Mar. 28-30.
This year's squad introduces two new freshman, Blake Benson and Blake Kukula, along with senior Gabe Spach, who is rejoining the team after last playing in 2018-19.
The Redhawks return redshirt freshman Conor Kelly, sophomore Will Koepke, juniors Nathan Cogswell, Federico Gutierrez and Jack Rahon, as well as seniors Quinton Borseth and Ben Gruher.
