SEATTLE — Seattle University men's swimming is eager return to competition as the Redhawks are set to host Whitworth on Saturday, Jan. 9 in their season opener.  Fans will not be permitted inside Redhawk Center, however will be able to watch for free via the WAC Digital Network or on Facebook Live. Saturday's meet, slated for a 1 pm start, will be the first team event in 315 days for Seattle U since last February's Western Athletic Conference meet in Houston.

ABOUT WHITWORTH
• The Pirates were 7-1 in duals last season, before winning the Northwest Conference.
• At the helm, Whitworth is led by head coach Steve Schadt who's in his 18th season.

HISTORY
• Since 1999, Seattle U is unbeaten in nine head-to-head meeting with the Pirates at the Redhawk Center.
• The Redhawks also hold an unblemished 16-0 record all-time.
• On Jan. 5, 2019, both teams respectively recorded the highest point totals during their dual history as Seattle U won 246-162.

LAST MEETING
In their lasting meeting, the Redhawks overwhelmed Whitworth, 201-61, as they hosted the Pirates on January 11, 2020. Seattle U dominated the day claiming first-place finishes in all 14 events, while sweeping the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 breaststroke.
