GLENDORA, N.J. — Seattle U junior pitcher Brandon Jenkins signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Chicago White Sox organization on Saturday.

The Glendora, N.J. native, spent one season with the Redhawks, appearing eight games including one start. Jenkins made his Redhawk-debut during the second game of a season-opening doubleheader with No. 21 Creighton on Feb. 14, and earned his only win of the year on March 1 against Pacific.

Jenkins tallied a 1-1 record on the year with one save and a 4.00 ERA in nine innings. He also registered 14 strikeouts, fourth-most among team leaders and registered an opponent batting average of .200.

Prior to the Emerald City, Jenkins spent the 2018 campaign at Campbell University, notching a 3-1 record in 14 games while opposing batters hit .190. The following year he joined Central Arizona College, appearing in 15 games for the Vaqueros. Coming out of high school, the right-hander hurler was ranked 40th in the country by Prep Baseball Report, while Perfect Game USA listed him 11th-overall among players from the Garden State.

"I am so proud of Brandon and that he was comfortable enough with the White Sox and himself take on this next challenge in his life and baseball career," said Seattle U head baseball coach Donny Harrel. "We obviously wish we could keep all of our guys through their graduation year, but it is also our job for those who have the ability, to prepare them for professional baseball, while getting a world-class education here at Seattle U. We support Brandon and his decision to sign professionally and I know he will finish his degree at some point. For now, I know for certain he will give Chicago everything he has to become a Big Leaguer."

Jenkins' agreement with Chicago's southsiders makes him the 20th Redhawk since 2012 to sign a professional baseball contract and the 32nd player all-time. He is also set to become the sixth-active player coached by Harrel currently part of a MLB organization, joining Janson Junk (New York Yankees organization), Jake Prizina (Baltimore Orioles organization), Zach Wolf (Miami Marlins organization), Tarik Skubal (Detroit Tigers organization) and Milwaukee Brewer, Eric Yardley.

Jenkins also becomes the first former Seattle U player since John Varga in 1973 to sign a free agent agreement with the White Sox.
