PORTLAND, ORE. – A small portion of the Seattle U track and field roster entered the University of Portland Meet No. 2 on Sunday, giving senior Siobhan Rubio the opportunity to continue her streak of excellence in the 800m run.
She more than delivered, winning gold in the event with her time of 2:17.86 and setting a new facility record in the Chiles Center.
Four Redhawk women entered the 3k run in Portland. Sophomore Marie-Therese Chahrouri shaved five seconds off her personal record, finishing in ninth place with a time of 10:16.07, while classmate Courtney Gelmini took 11th place overall at 10:17.29. Next came freshman Grace Much, who finished second in her heat and posted a new personal best. Finally, freshman Emily Harris rounded out the field by taking nearly 10 seconds off her old PR.
On the men's side, sophomore Ansel Pendley-Griffin took second place in his heat and third place overall in the mile run, setting a new PR of 4:16.96. He was joined in that event by sophomore Lance Slichko and junior Hamza Ali.
The full Seattle U squad will reunite on Feb. 14-15, heading back to the Dempsey Indoor facility in Seattle for the Husky Classic. The first events will begin at 2:00 p.m. PT on Feb. 14.
