SEATTLE – Seattle U women's golf has added five signees to its 2021 class, as talented student athletes Annika Cruz, Maria Fedorowycz, Rivekka Jumagulova, Shayna Lu and Samantha Yates signed National Letters of Intent to play golf for the Redhawks starting next fall.
"To say that we are excited about our incoming 2021 class would be a huge understatement," said Seattle U head coach Marc Chandonnet. "I've really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each one of these players, and we know they'll represent our program like rock stars both on and off the golf course. They are exceptional students and proven champions who are willing to work hard and be coached. I'd like to sincerely thank them and their families as we worked through the process of choosing the right university for them. As a coach I feel like the lucky one; I can't wait to coach this group. In the meantime, my current team has some unfinished business and I'm confident they are ready to break even more records this coming spring."
Cruz joins the Redhawks from Milpitas High School, in Milpitas, Calif. She was undefeated (12-0) her first year at Milpitas High School, then went on to qualify for the SCVAL championships and the Central Coast Section Championships in 2018-19. She was an all-league honoree in Santa Clara Valley from 2018-20.
Fedorowycz, a native of Kiev, Ukraine, joins Seattle U from Montverde Academy, in Montverde, Fla. She was a member of the Ukrainian National Golf Team from 2017-18. Fedorowycz won the 2019 IJGT Faldo Series Championship and the 2020 IJGT Sunshine State Classic.
Jumagulova, a native of Almaty, Kazakhstan, also joins the Redhawks from Montverde Academy, in Montverde, Fla. She has won numerous competitions across several countries including the 7th Campenato de Alicante in Spain, Portuguese Intercollegiate Open and the Serbian International Amateur Championship.
Lu, a senior at Punahou School, in Honolulu, Hawaii, has represented the state of Hawaii at numerous events including the 2019 Mary Cave Cup, 2019 Asia Pacific Junior Cup in Japan and the 2020 Major Champions Invitational. She placed 13th at the 2019 Hawaii High School Athletics Association States Tournament and was an IMG qualifier. Lu was also the 2019 HSJGA D&B Tournament champion and finished third in their tournament of champions.
