SEATTLE - Seattle University men's soccer has been ranked 16th in the College Soccer News Preseason Poll for the upcoming season. The Redhawks finished the 2019 season on a 16-game unbeaten streak, longest in the nation. The NCAA has postponed the men's soccer championship indefinitely.
SU went 15-3-5 last season, including a 10-0-1 mark in WAC action. It is the lone program to win at least 11 games in each of the last seven seasons. The Redhawks rolled through the WAC, going unbeaten and establishing a new conference record for most points accumulated (31). They became the first team to win 10 WAC matches in a season and just the fourth team in conference history to go unbeaten.
Coach Pete Fewing's squad returns many key contributors, including forwards Declan McGlynn, Noe Meza, and James Morris, who each scored at least seven goals in 2019. Goalkeeper Akili Kasim and defender Alex Acton-Petronotis headline the defense, with Kasim winning WAC Tournament MVP last year.
