SEATTLE — Seattle U baseball head coach Donny Harrel and staff announced the signing of new two pitchers for 2021 season in freshmen Brady Liddle and Shane Melrose.

"We are very excited about these young arms we have brought into the organization," said Harrel. "Coach Greg Goetz identified these guys long ago and they will contribute to our arsenal right away."

Brady Liddle • RHP • Issaquah, Wash. /// A three-year letterwinner at Issaquah HS, Liddle helped the Eagles engineer back-to-back state playoff appearances, including a third-place finish in 2019. As a junior, the right-hander notched a 6-1 record en route to earning Second Team All-KingCo honors later that season. An incoming freshman, Liddle has also garnered back-to-back Preseason All-America honors by Perfect Game and is among the Top 35 players from Washington and ranked 13th among right-handed pitchers from the state.

Goetz: "Brady is a strike-throwing machine. He possesses the pitchability that he can come with any pitch in any count. He has already started filling out and with it came more velocity. He made some great strides last year and with his work ethic, he will continue to grow and be very successful on the mound."

Shane Melrose • LHP • Redmond, Wash. /// An incoming freshman, Melrose was a three-year letterwinner at Redmond HS, helping the the Mustangs to a state playoff appearance in 2018.

Goetz: "Shane is a late bloomer that really came into his own the past year. He added five miles per hour to his fastball, which also helped the action on his breaking ball. Shane will add to the success the Redhawks have had with left handed pitchers in the past few years. He has a bright future."

The duo of added arms join the staff with Nestor German and Riley Sinclair, who signed with the Redhawks last fall. Collectively, the quartet will be part of a pitching staff that features a nice blend of youth and experience, as the Redhawks return the majority of its talent that appeared in the shortened 2020 campaign. Among the returning arms for the 2021 staff are starters Jarrod Billig, Ethan Christianson, and Alex McBee, in addition to Alex Jemal, Desmond Parisotto, Max Cuenca and Peter Chronowski.

The Redhawks will announce their position player signings next week.
