SEATTLE – Seattle U Track & Field Head Coach Kelly Sullivan has completed the Redhawks' 2020-21 recruiting class with the signing of sprinter Tricht Jocelyn.
Jocelyn, a Fort Myers, Fla., native, who earned her undergraduate degree at University of Charleston in West Virginia, joins the Redhawks as a graduate student with one season of indoor and two seasons of outdoor track & field remaining. She will pursue a master's in criminal justice at Seattle U.
"Tricht is a tremendous proven talent who has won individual conference titles and set numerous new school records," said Sullivan. "We see no reason why she will not continue to do so as a Redhawk. She is also an outstanding student and the entire team is excited to welcome her to Seattle University."
Jocelyn captured two school records and was a five-time Mountain East Conference champion over three years. In 2018, she was a member of the MEC runner-up 4x400m relay team, earning Second Team All-MEC honors. In 2019, she captured four MEC first-place finishes and was named First Team All-MEC in those four events – the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and 4x200m relay.
During the 2020 indoor season, Jocelyn set Charleston program records in the 60m dash (7.66) and the 200m (25.51). She also earned her fifth MEC championship with that performance in the 60m dash. Her outdoor personal bests include a time of 12.11 in the 100m dash and 24.87 in the 200m.
"One of the main goals (Assistant Coach) Chad Pharis and I had three years ago was to build some of the best short and long relay teams in the WAC and reach the NCAA level," Sullivan said. "With the addition of Tricht, to go with the other talented returnees and recruits on the women's side, we certainly have the talent and depth to do so. The men are in the exact same situation as the ladies are."
Jocelyn joins 11 previously announced incoming Redhawks who collectively make up the latest recruiting class for Seattle U's track & field and cross country.
"Thanks again to coaches Chad Pharis, Tony Monroe and James Anderson they each did a fantastic job in helping put a tremendous group of transfers and freshman together in this recruiting class," said Sullivan.
