NORMAN, Okla. – Seattle U men's golf has been honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America as a 2019-20 Outstanding Team Academic Award winner. The Redhawks were among the 59 Division I programs nationwide to earn Presidents Special Recognition Honors, finishing with a team GPA of 3.5 or above.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Redhawks have earned Presidents Special Recognition and Seattle U sits as just one of four DI programs to achieve the feat over the past four years.
"We've created a student-first culture within the SU golf program and I am thankful to our student-athletes for buying into that and making it important," said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. "We are winning-driven on the course as well and believe how you do anything, is how you do everything. Therefore, we take great pride in trying to instill a thought process around creating high quality daily habits with a focus on what's right in front of us. I'm proud of this team and confident that they have what it takes to continue to make our department proud as well."
Last month, Nathan Cogswell, Greg Gionfriddo and Jack Rahon all earned First wave Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar honors by the GCAA, while the trio, along with Conor Kelly and Will Koepke were all named to the Western Athletic Conference 2020 Spring All-Academic Team.
