KANSAS CITY Mo. — On Thursday, May 14, Seattle U baseball's Kyle Sherick was named to the 2020 Academic All-District Team, as selected by CoSIDA. The annual award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Due to the shortened season, this year's nominations were based off the student-athlete's collegiate career statistics.
A native of Ravensdale, Wash., Sherick is currently a sophomore majoring in Engineering and boasts a grade point average of 3.96. He started 13 of 16 games in the outfield during the shortened 2020 season, scoring seven runs with two doubles and six RBI and tallied a team-best four stolen bases.
As a result of being selected, Sherick will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. All-America selections will be released the week of June 8.
With the announcement, Sherick also becomes the fifth Redhawk in four seasons to garner recognition, joining previous awardees Jacob Prater in 2019, Curtis Perrin and Sean Sutton in 2018 and Jack Reisinger in 2017.
