The Las Vegas, Nev., native was the highlight for the Redhawks during their series opener against Pacific on Friday, Feb. 28, as he put together a stellar performance leaving the Tigers empty-handed, throwing six-scoreless innings with six strikeouts, as he was credited with the win and improved to 1-2 on the season.
Billig was on-point early as the Seattle U starter retired nine of the first 11 batters faced. He then recorded back-to-back 1-2-3 frames in the fourth and fifth. Pacific drew a lead-off walk in the sixth, but the left-hander kept the Tigers scoreless as sat down the next three batters with a pair of fly outs and a strikeout looking.
With the announcement, Billig is the first Redhawk this season to earn the conference's weekly accolades.
Billig and the Redhawks return to action this weekend with a four-game road to Boise State. First pitch of the series opener is slated for 5 pm on Friday, Mar. 6.
