HOUSTON, Texas — Seattle U women's swimming heads to the Lone Star State this week for the 2020 Western Athletic Conference Championships in Houston.
The Redhawks head into the championships optimistic and with high hopes after a solid regular season.
Headlining the flock will be the quintet of senior Jayna Van Stone, juniors Allison Plamondon and Bryn Lasher as well as freshmen Danika Himes and Alexa Hoeper as each were placed among the Top 16 in the pre-meet psych sheets.
Among the group, Lasher comes into the week as the highest-ranked Seattle U swimmer, earning fifth in the 100 butterfly, while also listed 12th in the 200 fly. Himes collected the most pre-meet listings for the Redhawks as she was tabbed 8th in the 200 breaststroke, 10th in the 100 breaststroke and 12th-overall in the 200 IM. Plamondon also enters with at 12th-overall listing in the 50 freestyle and 14th in the 100 free. Van Stone opens her final WAC Championship appearance listed 16th in the 200 freestyle, while Hoeper, who will make her first appearance, was placed seventh-overall in the 200 backstroke and is coming off a career-best performance in the season finale against Idaho.
The 2020 WAC Championships will be held Feb. 26-29 at the CRWC Natatorium. Fans unable to attend the week of events can watch online either on the WAC Digital Network or via the WAC's Facebook Live page.
