The junior doubles pair of Kyra Jung and Michelle Bader continued their string of success by grinding out a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5) win over Fresno State's Deniza Marcinkevica and A.C. Hummel. Sophomores Hannah Grossman and Martina Asciuto also triumphed, taking down opponents Alessia Dario and Jane Ellis 6-3. Junior Hannah Gianan and freshman Jade Lancaster teamed up once again in the number one slot, but ultimately lost, 2-6, to Shir Azran and Georgia Lawson of the Bulldogs. The Redhawks' two wins earned them the doubles point – and the lead – heading into singles play.
Ultimately, the Redhawks would not win another match before the contest was halted, but not for lack of effort. Gianan started off the singles matches with a 1-6, 3-6 match against Azran, while Bader (6-7 [2-7], 0-6) took the Bulldogs' Carlotta Nonnis Marzan to a first-set tiebreaker in her own match. Senior Peggy Rooke had a solid contest against Marcinkevica, finishing 4-6, 2-6. Finally, sophomore Alisa Sabotic's 2-6, 4-6 loss to Lawson ended up clinching the team win for Fresno State.
Seattle U will play again on Saturday night, facing Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash., at 7:00 p.m.
