GAMEDAY: MBB vs. Grand Canyon

Seattle University men's basketball returns home for four of their final five regular-season games. The stretch begins on Thursday, Feb. 20, as the Redhawks (12-14, 5-6 WAC) host Grand Canyon (12-13, 7-4 WAC) at 7 p.m. in the Redhawk Center.

SEATTLE – Seattle University men's basketball returns home for four of their final five regular-season games. The stretch begins on Thursday, Feb. 20, as the Redhawks (12-14, 5-6 WAC) host Grand Canyon (12-13, 7-4 WAC) at 7 p.m. in the Redhawk Center. The game will stream live on ESPN+ at espn.com/watch/espnplus. A subscription is required. Fans can also tune in to KTTH 770 AM in Seattle or online at mynorthwest.com.

ABOUT THE SERIES VS GRAND CANYON
This with be the 16th all-time meeting between Seattle U and Grand Canyon, with the Lopes holding an 13-2 advantage in the series. GCU won the first meeting this season – an 80-77 decision in Phoenix. Terrell Brown had a game-high 31 points, Delante Jones added 19 and Morgan Means chipped in 10.

Last year, the teams split the home-and-home series, which helped set up a first-round meeting at the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas. The Lopes won the first meeting of 2018-19 - a 71-57 final at GCU Arena on Jan. 5, 2019. Matej Kavas had 16 points in the game while Delante Jones added 15 and Terrell Brown chipped in 12.  In the regular-season finale on March 9, 2019, the Redhawks snapped a five-game GCU win streak in the series with a huge 83-76 overtime victory. Terrell Brown and Morgan Means each had 21 points in the win. GCU would go on to prevail in Las Vegas, claiming an 84-75 win. The Redhawks' first win in the series came on Jan. 30, 2016, a 59-57 victory in GCU Arena. SU rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit and outscored the Lopes 31-22 in the second half.

  • The Redhawks closed out a three-game WAC road swing with a 79-72 defeat to UTRGV on Feb. 15 in Edinburg, Texas.
  • The Redhawks now sit at 5-6 in WAC play, which puts them in a tie for fifth place with five games remaining on the conference slate.
  • Terrell Brown led a trio of Redhawks in double-figures, finishing with 18 points to go along with 5 rebounds.
  • Morgan Means scored 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
  • Myles Carter added 11 points while Aaron Nettles and Riley Grigsby had nine each.

DISHING HIS WAY INTO THE RECORD BOOK
Terrell Brown dished two assists in the Redhawks last game (Feb. 15 at UTRGV), bringing his season total to 124 and counting. The redshirt junior totaled 150 assists during his first season with the program in 2018-19. His current career total of 274 breaks him into the Seattle U all-time top-10 list at No. 10. Sitting in ninth is Mike Cheatham (1990-92) with 285 career assists. The all-time record holder is Dave Anderson (1981-85) with 619.

1,000 POINT CLUB
Morgan Means scored seven points on Nov. 26 versus Western Michigan, giving him exactly 1,000 for his career. Most recently, the senior guard scored 17 points (Feb. 15 at UTRGV), bringing his current career total to 1,245. Means is the third Seattle U player to reach the 1,000-point mark in the modern DI era. Aaron Broussard (2009-12) finished his career with 1,271 while Isiah Umipig (2013-15) scored 1,164 career points.

1,000 POINT CLUB PART II
In just his second season with the Redhawks, Terrell Brown is on pace to hit the 1,000 career point marker. The redshirt junior enters Saturday's game at UTRGV with 975 career points. Brown needs just 25 points to reach the milestone marker. He will follow Morgan Means as just the fourth player in the program's modern-day DI era.
