DENVER – Seattle U’s own Nathan Cogswell is the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for September, the WAC announced on Wednesday.

Cogswell, a sophomore, now has the WAC’s best scoring average at 70.6 after he started the year by shooting six over par at the Husky Invitational and followed it up with a 10-under performance at the Nick Watney Invitational, including an eight-under round of 63. As a result of his contributions, Seattle U has the best team stroke average in the conference at 286.8 per round.

“I am so proud of Nathan for receiving this honor,” said Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “I’ve been very appreciative of his confidence in reaching out for help in the areas of his game that he likes to keep sharp. It means a lot to a coach when a player starts to trust in that relationship and communicates about it.

“Nathan also has an amazing instructor and fantastic support system at home who have really prepared him well for these moments,” he continued. Seattle U golf is lucky to have him on our team, and we expect that he will have even more shining moments like this based on his work ethic and love for the game.”

Cogswell and the Redhawks will be back in action on Oct. 14-15 at the Oregon State Invitational.
