NORMAN, Okla. – (July 23) Seattle University men's golf was one of just 25 Division I teams to earn President's Special Recognition as the Golf Coaches Association of America released its 18Birdies All-Academic Teams.

The association honored a record number 223 teams which compiled GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn 18Birdies All-Academic Team recognition. A total of 49 teams received President’s Special Recognition status for having team GPAs of 3.5 or better.

This marks the second year in a row that the Redhawks have earned President's Special Recognition status.

Seattle U golfers also placed four players on the 2018 Spring Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team as Greg GionfriddoJoe HarvieZack Overstreet, and Gabe Spach were all honorees. Harvie concluded his career as a three-time spring honors while Overstreet, a sophomore has been honored twice.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
