CORVALLIS, Ore. – (April 29) Eli Boudouris broke the school record in the 3000m steeplechase and Olivia Stein set a new personal best in the 5,000m by breaking the 17-minute mark, as the Seattle University track and field team competed at the OSU High Performance meet on Friday and Saturday.

Boudouris broke his own school record that he set two weeks ago by 13 seconds, this time with a mark of 9:06.69.

“Eli was able to compete with some other runners this weekend in the Steeple which helped push him throughout the race,” assistant coach Chad Pharis said. “He was able to kick down 2 runners for a 2nd place finish and a big personal record and school record.”

Stein was coming off one of the best performances of the year at the Mt SAC relays where she shattered the school record in the 10k, and was right back to where she left off. She set a new personal best in the 5,000m at 16:58.86, breaking the 17-minute mark.

“Olivia finished under the 17-minute barrier for the first time in the invite section of the 5,000m,” Pharis said. “She ran a very smart and determined race coming off her great 10,000m performance a week ago in California. Putting those two performances back-to back is no easy task, and Olivia handled it perfectly.”

Besides Boudouris and Stein, the Redhawks had a terrific meet, which brought out a great number of personal bests and season’s best all around.

“The majority of the teamed seemed to either set a new best or were very near those marks which shows the consistency that is needed to perform at Conference,” Pharis said.

Madison Lichter turned in a season’s best in the 100m, with a time of 12.51. Caylah Lunning also ran a season best in the 200m, with a mark of 25.82. In the 800m, Siobhan Rubio ran a great race, finishing in third place of her heat. Rachel Kastama and Abbigayle Kohmetscher both set a new personal best in the 1,500m. Kastama ran it in 4:51.66, and Kohmetscher finished the race in 4:56.23

In the 100m hurdles, Michelle Newblom set a new personal best with a time of 15.44. Abby Wachter ran a season best 1:05.10 in the 400m hurdles, while Johanna Erickson came up 1 second short of setting a PR in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:04.85.

The men’s side saw three more PRs and two season’s best. Keith Beasley ran his season best in the 200m at 22.83. Tyler Flannery also ran a season best in the 5,000m with a time of 15.17.34.

The personal bests came from Devin Hasty, Lance Slichko, and Ben Monk. Hasty set his PR in the 800m, with a mark of 2:00.43, while Slichko and Monk set theirs in the 1,500m with times of 3:58.37 and 4:00.93, respectively.

“This was a really good meet for the team this weekend,” Pharis said. “Given the less than ideal weather conditions for many of the events, everyone had a great plan for their events and went to the line ready to execute. Eight personal records and a school record, along with five other season's best proves that the team is in a terrific position heading into our conference meet in two weeks.”

The Redhawks have one more meet to prepare before the WAC Outdoor Championship in Lawerence, Kan. May 9-12. They'll compete at the Ken Shannon Invitational at the University of Washington May 4-5.
