NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – (March 9) Seattle University softball dropped a pair of games at the CSUN Tournament Friday. SU fell, 5-0, to Oregon State and then faltered, 6-2, to Texas Tech.

"We made some mistakes and the other teams made us pay today," said Coach Geoff Hirai. "We'll regroup and try to play Seattle U softball tomorrow."

Texas Tech scored four times in the first inning to gain control. A Cherise Silvan base hit led to a run in the third, as a pair of Red Raider errors allowed Silvan to score. Texas Tech added two more runs in the fifth inning for a 6-1 advantage.

In the top of the sixth, Madison Cathcart hammered a home run to centerfield, giving her a nation-best 13 homers on the season.

Against Oregon State, the Redhawks stayed even with the Beavers through three innings, but OSU slowly pulled away as the game continued. Maddy Kristjanson and Savannah Loomis each had a hit in the contest.

The Redhawks (13-11) play twice on Saturday, facing Oregon State at CSUN and then playing at Cal State Fullerton.
