SEATTLE (May 22) - The Seattle U men's and women's tennis teams held their annual year-end banquet this past Sunday night on-campus in the Casey Commons building. 

Head coach Adam Reeb recapped the year, honored the graduating seniors, and presented awards for both teams. 

On the men's side, sophomore Jeremiah Kalmus won the most valuable player award as he demonstrated substantial improvement from his freshman campaign. He posted a 16-10 overall record in singles play, and went 2-3 against WAC competition.  

Freshman Alex Chan earned most improved player as he ended the year by posting a 5-5 record vs. singles competition. Graduating senior John Stormans received the spirit award.

For the women, junior Michelle Lui won most valuable player award as she was the clear leader for Redhawks from start to finish. She posted an impressive 19-13 overall singles record, including 8-3 in tournament play. She also posted a team-leading 20-9 doubles record, including 3-2 in WAC play. Junior Audrey Scott secured most improved player after going 3-2 in WAC singles play, while senior Barbara Carey was recognized with the spirit award.   Despite both the men and the women dealing with significant year-long injuries, they consistently put forth tremendous effort and did everything the coaches asked of them. The women advanced to the WAC Tournament semifinals and put up a strong fight against top-seeded UMKC before falling to the eventual tournament champion.
