COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 13)- The Seattle University men’s swimming team fell, 121-74, at Air Force Friday night. Six different Redhawks recorded second-place showings at the meet.
Tanner Schelling took runner-up honors in the 50 freestyle and 200 breaststroke. He logged a 21.37 time in the 50 free. In the 200 breaststroke, he swam a 2:10.27, beating Ben Nussbaum, who placed third with a 2:14.14 performance.
Mitchell Crossen tallied a 48.14 showing in the 100 freestyle, taking second place. In the 200 freestyle, he recorded a 1:46.28 to finish fourth for SU. In the 200 IM, Grant Gooding put up a 2:00.14 time, good for second place.
Zach Zenteno finished second in the 500 freestyle, tallying a 4:57.21. After converting the time due to the Colorado altitude, the time will be a lifetime best for Zenteno.
Jack Baldoni picked up a runner-up finish in the 200 butterfly, swimming a 1:57.40 in the event. In the 200 backstroke, Morgan Montemayor finished second with a time of 1:58.25.
“We were a little bit sluggish today,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “Hopefully we can do some big things tomorrow.”
The Redhawks will face the Falcons again tomorrow. The meet is set for an 11 a.m. Mountain (10 a.m. Pacific) start and will be streamed live on Campus Insiders.
