SEATTLE (Jan. 3) – Blaise Wittenauer-Lee and Tanner Schelling of the Seattle University swimming teams have both posted NCAA ‘B’ cut times for this season. Wittenauer-Lee recorded ‘B’ times in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, while Schelling made his time in the 100 breaststroke.
Wittenauer-Lee tallied a time of 1:01.19 in the 100 breaststroke at the Husky Invitational last month. She broke her own program record on her way to winning the event.
In the 200 breaststroke, the senior swam a 2:11.26 to win the race at the Husky Invitational. She set a meet record and topped her own school mark in the contest.
Schelling also posted his ‘B’ time at the Husky Invitational. The senior broke his own school record in the 100 breaststroke, swimming a 54.25 and winning the race.
Wittenauer holds five individual school records, while Schelling has the top mark in the 100 breaststroke.
Swimmers with ‘A’ cuts automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Last season, Wittenauer-Lee won the WAC title in the 100 and 200 breaststroke races.
The Redhawks host two meets this weekend. They welcome Pomona-Pitzer on Friday, Jan. 6, and then entertain Whitworth the following day. Saturday’s meet will mark senior day for 12 Redhawks, including Wittenauer-Lee and Schelling.
