FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (Dec. 4) – The Seattle University men’s swimming team concluded competition at the 68th Annual Husky Invitational on Sunday. The Redhawks posted three top-ten all-time finishes on the day.
“We really had a strong weekend overall,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “There were a lot of lifetime and season bests put up. It is really a great point to be at mid-season. Setting four women’s school records and three men’s school records really helps to set up us for a great second half of the year. The teams also got behind each other with every swim and it really showed what SU swimming is all about. I am very proud of what the team accomplished this weekend.”
In the 200 backstroke preliminaries, Morgan Montemayor produced a 1:50.67 time. The time is the fourth-fastest in SU history. Jason Klein also recorded a 1:52.60 in the race, ninth-best in program history.
In the 200 breaststroke prelims, Schelling logged a 2:00.62 performance, second-best in school history.
The team of Tanner Schelling, Jacob Morris, Ian Keane, and Mitchell Crossen notched a second-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming a 3:07.82 in the contest.
Ben Nussbaum took sixth in the 200 breaststroke, swimming a 2:07.87 in the event.
Seattle University hosts Pomona Pitzer in its next meet on Jan. 6 at the Connolly Complex.
