SEATTLE (Dec. 2) - Seattle University men’s swimming opened competition at the 68th Annual Husky Invitational Friday. The Redhawks won the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay on the first day of the event.
In the 200 freestyle relay, SU swam a 1:23.47 to beat out the other collegiate competition. The team of Tanner Schelling, Greg Raper, Jr., Jack Baldoni, and Mitchell Crossen combined to swim the ninth-fastest time in school history.
The 400 medley relay team of Jason Klein, Schelling, Baldoni, and Crossen teamed up to swim a 3:22.35, good for 10th-fastest in program annals.
“The men had some really strong swims,” said Coach Craig Nisgor. “There was some great competition and we competed well.”
Grant Gooding swam a personal-best 1:53.65 in the 200 IM, placing fifth in the contest.
“Grant did a great job tonight,” said Nisgor.
The meet continues tomorrow with seven events.
