OREM, Utah (Nov. 11) - Seattle University men’s soccer fell, 3-1, to Air Force in the WAC Tournament semifinals Friday. Kyle Bjornethun scored for the Redhawks, but the Falcons (13-6-1) scored twice in the second half to advance to WAC Championship, hosted by Utah Valley.

The Redhawks (11-6-2) pressured the Falcons early, as Alex Roldan and David Olsen put shots on goal in the opening minutes. SU eventually earned a pair of corner kicks, and on the second try, Jeff Rose sent in a terrific ball to the middle of the box, where Bjornethun headed in a goal for a 1-0 advantage at the 15:54 mark.

Jordan Hadden made a save on an Air Force shot in the 25th minute, keeping the Falcons off the board. Later in the frame, Air Force tied the match, converting off a free kick. Cameron Duley moved a touch pass to Tucker Axhoj, who drilled a shot into the net to even the contest at the 44:10 mark. The teams headed into the break tied at 1.

Air Force struck early in the second half, as Jaric Marton finished a shot in the box for a 2-1 lead. Duley threw the ball in, where John Sims headed it and then Marton was there to find the back of the net just 3:32 into the frame.

SU put a shot on goal and later hit the crossbar. Bjornethun had a shot stopped by the Falcons’ goalkeeper in the 64th minute. Air Force responded with a long pass ahead to Tucker Bone, who scored for a 3-1 lead at the 65:11 mark.

Each team had opportunities as the half continued, but Seattle U was unable to score as the Falcons claimed a spot in the conference finals.

The Redhawks wrap up their season with 11 wins. They enter the 2017 season with a 16-game home winning streak, tied for longest in Division I. Coach Pete Fewing will lose eight seniors-Bjornethun, Hadden, Rose, Shane Mahvi, Cameron Rohani, Sam Langston, Patrick Clifford, and Joseph Harris.
