SEATTLE (Oct. 29) – Seattle University swimming closed its opening weekend action Saturday at the Connolly Complex. The women beat Loyola Marymount, 145-59, and fell to Grand Canyon, 129-75. The Redhawk men dropped a 125-79 decision to Grand Canyon.

For the women, senior Blaise Wittenauer-Lee swam a 2:18.39 in the 200 breaststroke to win the event. She also took first in the 200 IM, swimming a 2:06.34 to touch first.

On the men’s side, Tanner Schelling won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:06.92 for SU. Alec Barnard recorded a win in the 200 butterfly, edging out teammate Jack Baldoni, who placed second. Mitchell Crossen logged a time of 1:43.99 to win the 200 freestyle event.

The Redhawks head to the University of Idaho next weekend. The men will face CSU Bakersfield, while the women take on Bakersfield and Idaho.
