SAN ANTONIO, Texas - (Oct. 21) Alex Roldan scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season for Seattle University men’s soccer as the Redhawks played the University of Incarnate Word to a 1-1 double-overtime draw in Western Athletic Conference action Friday night.

Seattle U picked up one point and remains atop the WAC standings with the tie, moving to 9-4-2 overall and 5-0-2 in league play. UIW is now 4-6-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the WAC.

Roldan put the Redhawks on the board just 34 seconds into play, taking a crossing ball from David Olsen and beating Cardinals’ goalkeeper Jorge Guzman to the far post.

Incarnate Word would eventually tie the game with 15 minutes remaining in regulation on a goal by Ben Conway.

The Cardinals had the only shot opportunities of the first overtime period, sending two shots wide of goal.

Seattle U had three attempts in the final frame, including header shot by Nathan Aune off a corner kick in the final seconds. But the shot went wide as time expired.

Holding a slim two-point lead in the WAC standings, the Redhawks host a crucial match against UTRGV at Championship Field on Sunday. Kick off is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will stream live on the WAC Digital Network.
