SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – (Oct. 18) Seattle University men’s golf shot a five-under 859 over three rounds at the Bill Cullum Invitational hosted by CSUN, placing fourth overall in the 15-team field.
Ross Kukula was the Redhawks’ best individual finisher, placing tied for 11th with a three-round score of five-under 211 (68-70-73). Kyle Cornett had the low round of the tournament for SU, shooting a personal best 66 Tuesday. The senior finished the tournament in 14th with a four-under 212 (73-73-66).
The course at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, Calif., was 6,849 yards and a par 72.
“I’m happy to see some baby steps in the right direction,” said SU Head Coach Marc Chandonnet. “Any time your team shoots under par on any given day, it’s tough to be disappointed. Kyle shot a personal best score with is fabulous. We will learn from our mistakes this week and do a little better job preparing for our final event of the fall.”
Seattle U also got an under par round from freshman Zack Overstreet who finished with a two-under 70 on Tuesday. He was the Redhawks’ third best finisher, placing tied for 25th with an even 216.
The Redhawks close out the fall portion of their 2016-17 schedule on Oct. 27-29 at the Stockton Invitational hosted by the University of Pacific at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.
