DENVER - (Oct. 12) Senior guard Kaylee Best was named to the 2016-17 All-Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball preseason second team, as voted by the league’s eight head coaches, the WAC office announced Wednesday. Coaches could not vote for their own players.

Best was the third leading scorer on last year’s squad, averaging 9.6 pig to go along with a team-high 106 assists and 64 steals. She also hit 45 triples and shot nearly 82 percent from the charity stripe (49-for-60).

The Redhawks were selected to finish seventh in both the league’s Preseason Coaches Poll and Preseason Media Poll. NM State was selected as the favorite to win the WAC in both polls.

Seattle U finished 9-21 overall and 3-11 in WAC play in 2015-16. The Redhawks begin a new era of basketball this winter under first-year Head Coach Suzy Barcomb.
