SEATTLE - Western Athletic Conference play begins Friday at Championship Field for the Seattle University men’s soccer team. The Redhawks (4-4-0, 0-0-0 WAC) host No. 21 Utah Valley (7-2-0, 0-0-0 WAC) for a 7 p.m. showdown that will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS
Seattle U Athletics is celebrating the start of soccer traditions at Seattle University with a tribute to the '67 men's soccer team at halftime of Friday’s match. Come celebrate a great 50 years and show your Redhawk spirit at the game.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
• Seattle U wrapped up non-conference play with a 4-4-0 record. The Redhawks won two of their last three, topping College of Charleston, 2-1 in overtime, and Davidson, 4-0. Most recently, they dropped a 2-1 decision at Washington.
Alex Roldan was the hero against CofC (Sept. 16), scoring the golden-goal winner four minutes into overtime to five SU a 2-1 win.
• Four different Redhawks scored in a 4-0 thumping of Davidson (sept. 18). Jeff Rose, Julio Rubio, David Olsen and Medo Youssef found the back of the net in the shutout.
• Eight Redhawks have combined to score 13 goals through seven games.
Alex Roldan has three goals and one assist through seven games to lead the Redhawks with seven points.
• The Redhawks were the preseason favorite to repeat as Western Athletic Conference champions, according to a vote by the league’s 11 head coaches.
• Senior defender Kyle Bjornethun and junior forward David Olsen were selected as WAC Preseason Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year, respectively.
• The duo were also named to the watch list for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. Olsen was a semifinalist for the 2015 WAC Hermann Trophy, Bjornthun was the 2015 WAC Defensive Player of the Year. The two were also named NSCAA All-Americans last season with Olsen earning first team honors and Bjornethun picking up second team honors.
David Olsen concluded last season tied for the nation’s best in goals scored, finishing the year with 16.

ABOUT THE WOLVERINES (7-2-0, 0-0-0 WAC)
Utah Valley is ranked No. 21 in the latest NSCAA top 25 poll and No. 21 in this week’s TopDrawerSoccer.com national poll. UVU has two wins over ranked opponents including a season-opening 2-1 victory over then No. 20 Washington and a 1-0 shutout of then No. 20 Gonzaga. Last week the Wolverines split on the road, dropping a 3-2 decision at Sacramento State, but bouncing back for a 1-0 shutout at UC Davis. Skyler Milne leads the team with four goals and four assists for 12 points. Paul Hoffmeister also has four goals while two others have four assists each. In goal Elliott Rubio has four shutouts, a 0.89 GAA and 19 saves.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UTAH VALLEY
Since making the return to DI in 2008, Seattle U is 2-0-2 against the Wolverines. The teams met twice last season, kindling a 2-0 shutout win for Seattle U during the regular-season followed by a first-round meeting int he WAC Championship Tournament. The teams officially tied 1-1 with the Redhawks advancing by way of a 5-4 decision in penalty kicks.
