SEATTLE - (Sept. 15) After a grueling five-game road swing to open the 2016 season, the Seattle University men’s soccer team finally makes its Championship Field debut this weekend. The Redhawks open their home slate on Friday, Sept. 16, hosting the College of Charleston under the lights with a 7 p.m. kick off. The weekend wraps up on Sunday, Sept. 18 as SU takes on Davidson in the second game of a Redhawks soccer doubleheader. Kick off Sunday is scheduled for 3 p.m.

KIDS DAY AND WELCOME BACK WEEKEND!
Friday is Kids Day at Championship Field as the Redhawks host the College of Charleston at 7 p.m. All kids in eighth grade or below wearing a CYO jersey earn FREE admission to the game, while parents receive special $3 tickets. All are then welcome to attend an autograph session with the Redhawks after the game.
Sunday is Welcome Back Weekend as all SU students make their return to campus for the 2016-17 academic year. A Redzone Rally at 11am kicks off the day, which includes an SU soccer doubleheader at Championship Field. Women’s soccer hosts Gonzaga at noon, followed by the men’s 3 p.m. kick off versus Davidson. Get to the game early and be one of the lucky SU students to receive a FREE water bottle. As always, all SU students, faculty and staff with a valid SU ID card receive FREE admission to Redhawk home games.
ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
• Making trips to Akron, Spokane and the East Coast to open the 2016 season, SU returns home with a 2-3-0 record.
• Five Redhawks have combined to score six goals.
• Alex Roldan has two goals through three games to lead the Redhawks with four points.
• After beginning the season ranked No. 14 by the NSCAA, SU is now receiving votes in the poll.TopDrawerSoccer.com ranks the Redhawks at No. 24 this week.
• Alex Roldan and Joe Harris each scored in the win over the Mountaineers while Jeff Rose and Julio Rubio each picked up an assist.
• The Redhawks were the preseason favorite to repeat as Western Athletic Conference champions, according to a vote by the league’s 11 head coaches.
• Senior defender Kyle Bjornethun and junior forward David Olsen were selected as WAC Preseason Defensive and Offensive Player of the Year, respectively.
• The duo were also named to the watch list for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. Olsen was a semifinalist for the 2015 WAC Hermann Trophy, Bjornthun was the 2015 WAC Defensive Player of the Year. The two were also named NSCAA All-Americans last season with Olsen earning first team honors and Bjornethun picking up second team honors.
• David Olsen concluded last season tied for the nation’s best in goals scored, finishing the year with 16.
ABOUT THE COUGARS (2-1-0)
College of Charleston enters the week with a 2-1 record, picking up wins over Navy and Furman. Both victories were 2-0 shutouts for the Cougars. Five different players have scored once goal apiece while Avery Ryan and Leland Archer have two assists each. Kevin Shields has played every minute in goal, making nine saves to go along with the two shutouts and three goals allowed.

This will mark the first meeting between Seattle U and the College of Charleston.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS (1-3-0)
Davidson sits at 1-3-0 on the season after earning the season’s first win on Sept. 9 in a 2-0 shutout of UNC Asheville. The Wildcats have scored three goals through four games, including two by Maxi Pragnell and one my Christian Fechter. Andrew Kenneson has surrendered all seven goals scored against the Wildcats. The goalkeeper also has 20 saves. Davidson will face Washington on Friday before meeting the Redhawks on Championship Field Sunday.
