BOX SCORE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - (Sept. 8) Jeff Rose broke through with his first goal of the season just inside one minute to play in the first half and the Seattle University men’s soccer team held on to blank Harvard, 1-0, Thursday night at Jordan Field.

The Redhawks snapped a two-game skid with the win, moving to an even 2-2 on the season. The Crimson fell for the first time this year, dropping to 1-1-1 overall.

SU dominated offensively in the first half of play, outshooting the home team 6-1. The key shot was the final shot of the frame as Alex Roldan sent a through ball up to Rose, who finished into the lower left netting as the clock ticked just inside one minute remaining.

Rose finished the night with four total shots, all on frame, which forced all three of Harvard goalkeeper Kyle Parks’ five saves. Sergio Rivas and Cameron Rohani also each put a shot on goal.

After suffering a four-goal letdown at Gonzaga on Sunday, SU goalkeeper RJ Noll was solid in his second shutout of the year. The sophomore made one save on a second-half shot by the Crimson’s Cesar Farias.

Next up for the Redhawks is another Ivy League foe in the form of the Dartmouth Big Green. Kick off from Hanover, N.H., is set for Sunday, Sept. 11 at 5 p.m. local, 2 p.m. Pacific.
