BOISE, IDAHO - (Aug. 26) Brie Hooks converted a penalty kick attempt in the final seconds of the regulation, lifting the Seattle University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Boise State Friday night.
The Redhawks improve to 2-0 on the young season with Hooks' second game-winner in as many games.
An evenly matched battle throughout, SU had four first-half shots while the Broncos managed five. Neither team was able to put much on frame, and Seattle U's one shot on goal in the period - a header by Natasha Howe - was saved off the line by a Boise State defender.
Each side had seven shots apiece in the second half and seemed destined for overtime when Boise State's Jessie Vogel was called for a foul inside the 18, awarding SU a pentalty kick with just two seconds remaining in regulation.
Hooks drilled the ball into the net and the Redhawks tallied their second straight 1-0 shutout.
Seattle U is back in action Sunday at 11 a.m. local, 10 a.m. Pacific, facing San Jose State in Boise.
