Stephanie Spiekerman has been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 15-21.
Spiekerman, a junior, played the entire 90 minutes in the 1-0 shutout win against Texas as a center back. She held down the backline, limiting Texas to just one shot on goal despite 17 attempts.
Spiekerman was a 2016 Preseason All-WAC selection. She finished the 2014 and 2015 seasons on the Second Team All-WAC.
The Redhawks next play in the Boise State Tournament in Idaho, taking on Boise State on Friday, and San Jose State on Sunday. Their first game back at home is Sept. 5 as they host cross-town rival Washington on Championship Field.
