Coaches may not quite get a summer break, but they still find time for fun! See what our Redhawk coaches love about the summer.
Assistant softball coach Brandi Gordon-Bennett –
1) What’s your favorite summertime activity in general? BBQin’!
2) What’s your favorite Seattle-specific summertime activity? Being able to enjoy the beautiful Northwest without your rain gear – like kayaking!
3) What’s your favorite thing to grill (or have grilled for you) in the summer? Been BBQing a lot of bratwursts and BBQ chicken.
4) How about a side dish? Baked beans.
5) What was your favorite summer memory from childhood? I grew up with a swimming pool, and we used to have pool Olympics that were always epic! We would get a huge PVC pipe that we would lay across the center of the pool. We would fill pillow cases up with balloons and two people would scoot to the center of the pool on the pipe. Then you would just hit each other until the first person fell off.
6) If you could go on a camping trip with 3 people (living or deceased), who would you choose? Camping is not my thing, but I would invite Ellen, James Corden, and Kelly Clarkson to survive with laughter and song.
7) What song will be on repeat this summer? JT’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling”!
8) What’s your favorite part about SU in the summer? The calm before the storm!
9) Is there a certain place you love to go in the summer? Home. Since there are no late night practices in the summer, I get to spend more time with my wife and my kids!
10) What are you most excited for this fall when students are back on campus? To see who worked hard over the summer and to see the deer-in-headlights look on the freshmen’s faces J
Finally, any funny or entertaining stories to share that have happened to you since the end of Spring Quarter? My three-year-old twins took their first flight since knowing how to talk, and as we were taking off, there was a little bit of turbulence, and Sami, my daughter, screamed in a joking matter, “We’re going down!!!”!
