On the women’s team, Maddie Dickman (Sacramento, Calif.) was named Most Improved, Kaitlyn Overstreet (Cottonwood Heights, Utah) earned the Coaches’ Award, and Blaise Wittenauer-Lee (Portland, Ore.) was named Team MVP. On the men’s side, Jacob Morris (Tigard, Ore.) earned Most Improved honors, Chris Weinert (Gresham, Ore.) received the Coaches’ Award, and Tanner Schelling (Boise, Idaho) earned Team MVP honors.
The teams enjoyed many successes during the season, including Wittenauer-Lee becoming the program’s first WAC individual champion, earning two gold medals, and becoming only the second swimmer in SU history to qualify for Olympic trials this summer. On the men’s side, Schelling improved his personal best twice in the men’s 200 breaststroke at the WAC championships.
Academically, women’s swimming earned the second most Academic All-WAC honors among Seattle U teams that compete in the winter while men’s swimming earned five honorees.
The Redhawks look to continue competing at a high level as well as improving both academically and in the pool in 2016-17.
Congratulations to the entire team on a very successful season. We look forward to continued success in future seasons.
