The Western Athletic Conference has announced the 2016 Softball All-Conference honors leading up to this weekend’s conference tournament in a vote of the league’s six head coaches. Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) earns First Team honors while Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) represents the Redhawks on the Second Team.

Geronimo wraps her career, receiving First Team honors for the fourth consecutive season. Prior to the start of the 2016 season, she was also named to the Preseason All-WAC team. In 2015, she led the Redhawks in stolen bases and hit two grand slams, one on Mar. 27 at Grand Canyon and one on May 7 at the WAC Tournament. In 2014 as a sophomore, she received espnW Player of the Week accolades (Feb. 24-Mar. 2) and as a freshman, she tallied a then-conference-leading 11-game hit streak (Apr. 12-27).

Bouska’s honor marks her second straight All-Conference accolade, also representing the Redhawks on the WAC All-Tournament Team in 2015. Last season, as a sophomore, she recorded a 15-game hitting streak (Mar. 21-Apr. 17) while leading the team at the plate (.352) and in hits (57). Earlier this year, she was named to the Preseason All-WAC Team.

Seattle U opens the 2016 WAC Tournament, which they also play host to, on Thursday, May 12 at 10:30 am PT vs. Utah Valley. The winner of the game faces No. 1 seed NM State at 3:30 p.m. Thursday while the loser will play the loser of UMKC/Bakersfield at 6 p.m. Thursday. The winner of the double elimination tournament, which wraps on Saturday, receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
