BROWNSVILLE, Texas - After advancing to their second straight Western Athletic Conference championship semifinals, Seattle U (11-14) and NM State (11-9) completed doubles before an almost four hour rain delay, after which the Aggies would earn a 4-0 win.

“We had a close doubles point but ultimately could not finish it out,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “We started slow in singles but then got saved a bit with the rain delay. We came back even more determined after the delay but New Mexico State was just too tough for us today. New Mexico State is a very good team and we wish them luck in the finals tomorrow.”

NM State earned doubles wins in two of three matches before following with singles wins at No. 2, No. 5, and No. 3. All-Conference duo Michelle Lui (Bellevue, Wash.) and Kelli Woodman (Denver, Colo.) earned a win in No. 1 doubles. After the 4-0 lead was clinched, the match was called and ensured the Aggie victory.

“I’m so proud of this team, though, that had a fantastic year and improved so much,” Reeb summarizes. “It’s a joy and pleasure for us as a coaching staff to work with these dedicated and hard-working student-athletes. I’m so excited for the future of our program.”

The Redhawks say goodbye to senior Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) but return a large portion of the team to next year’s squad.
