Over the weekend, Nguyen won a singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, over Linfield’s Charlie Farrenkopf after he and partner, Michael Schoettler, defeated Farrenkopf and Liam Spearnak, 6-4, in doubles. The wins helped propel the Redhawks to a 7-0 victory on Senior Day.
Nguyen, a biology major, also excels in the classroom with a 3.957 cumulative GPA.
With their 10th win of the season, the Redhawks earned their second double digit win season since returning to Division I and look to surpass their 11-win season in 2013-14 at this weekend’s WAC Tournament. The No. 4 seed Redhawks face No. 5 Chicago State on Friday at 1 pm CT/11 am PT in Brownsville, Texas with the semifinals on Saturday and the final match Sunday.
