Seattle University softball (14-19) found themselves down by three early but made a comeback, scoring four unanswered runs to earn a 4-3 victory vs. Santa Clara (5-27) in the weekend finale.

Santa Clara took a 3-0 lead through the first three innings, scoring two on a Justine Garner double down the left field line and a wild pitch in the second and one more in the third on a Kelsie Barnard RBI double.

Seattle U would start the comeback in the bottom of the fourth as Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) and Rose Saenz (San Gabriel, Calif.) led off with back-to-back singles. Two batters later, Savannah Loomis (Roseville, Calif.) doubled to left center to drive in two runs and bring the Redhawks within one, 3-2.

Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) scored in the fifth to tie the game, which would head into the seventh inning tied. In the bottom of the seventh, Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) hit a one-out RBI single to bring home Bouska for the walk-off winner.

Sara Dominguez (Santa Ynez, Calif.) hit 2-for-3 to lead the team while Geronimo also hit 2-for-4 as the Redhawks and Broncos equaled in hits, eight apiece.

Alyssa Reuble (Lynnwood, Wash.) picked up her third win on the weekend, striking out three in the complete game victory. Santa Clara’s McCall James picked up was handed the loss, giving up the tying and winning runs.

Seattle U starts conference play at NM State next weekend, playing a single game Friday at 5 pm PT and a doubleheader starting at 3pm on Saturday.
