Seattle University softball (11-17) earned an 11-8 victory in an offensively-charged game one on the day before dropping a 2-1 game two at Portland State (6-15).

In game one, Portland State would take a 6-0 lead through the first two innings before the Redhawks tied the game scoring six combined runs in the top of the third and fourth thanks to seven combined hits.

The Vikings regained their final lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the fourth on an Alex Flores two-out two-RBI single before the Redhawks jumped back in front, 9-8, in the top of the fifth. Seattle U would tack on two more runs in the top of the seventh on a Portland State wild pitch and an Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) RBI double down the left field line.

A very different story in game two, the teams remained scoreless through the first half of play before the Vikings scored a run apiece in the fourth and sixth innings on a pair of ground outs. SU tied the tally at one apiece in the top of the fifth on a Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) double to left center before PSU regained the lead for the victory.

Alyssa Reuble (Lynnwood, Wash.) picked up the win in relief in game one while Kristen Crawford suffered the loss and in game two, Karyn Wright picked up the win and Lindsay Davis (Palo Cedro, Calif.) suffered the loss.

Bouska led the Redhawks at the plate, batting 5-for-9 over the two games, as they outhit Portland State, 11-9, in game one and 8-6 in game two.

Seattle U travels to Santa Barbara, Calif. this weekend for UCSB’s Gaucho Classic II where they will face San Diego, UCSB, and Santa Clara.
