After a victorious doubleheader over the weekend, Seattle University women’s tennis’ Kristen James (Lubbock, Texas) has been named Western Athletic Conference Female Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 22-28, 2016. This is the team’s second such honor of the spring and fourth overall this year after earning two monthly honors in the fall.

“Kristen had a great weekend and helped lead our team to two victories,” said head coach Adam Reeb. “She has been a consistent strength for us in both singles and doubles. Kristen is our lone senior, is a team captain, brings many invaluable traits to our program, and is a big asset. I couldn’t be more proud of her for receiving this well-deserved recognition.”

James won both singles matches and, with partner Sari Kwee, won their only doubles match to finish as the Redhawks swept matches vs. Northern Colorado and at Portland State. She battled to a three-set victory vs. Northern Colorado’s Lily-Ana Kreutzer before defeating Portland State’s Ashley Knecht in straight sets.

The Redhawks return home to host George Fox on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 5 p.m. at the Tennis Center at Sand Point.
