The Western Athletic Conference has released the 2016 WAC Preseason Softball Team as well as the preseason poll after a vote of the league’s six head coaches. Seattle University’s Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) and Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) represent the Redhawks on the Preseason All-WAC Team.

Bouska led the team at the plate (.352) and in hits (57) in 2015 and recorded a 15-game hitting streak from Mar. 21 vs. LMU to Apr. 17 vs. UMKC. She was also named Second Team All-WAC and represented the Redhawks on the WAC All-Tournament Team.

Geronimo led Seattle U in stolen bases last season, receiving First Team All-Conference accolades. She was also named one of espnW’s Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 24-Mar. 2.

After winning the 2015 WAC Tournament, NM State has also been picked to win in 2016. Grand Canyon and CSU Bakersfield were picked to round out the top half of the poll at second and third, respectively, while UMKC was picked to finish fourth. Seattle U and Utah Valley were picked to finish at fifth and sixth, respectively.
