The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has announced Scholar All-West Region awards and Seattle University men’s soccer has earned one honor while women’s soccer has earned three.

Shane Haworth (Puyallup, Wash.) represents the Redhawks on the men’s side while Julia Moravec (Spokane, Wash.), Kelly Beck (Tacoma, Wash.) and Kiana Kraft (Kent, Wash.) were each named to the Third Team on the women’s side.

This marks the second straight such honor for Kraft and Beck, who were named to the First and Second team, respectively, in 2014.

Haworth had a stellar final season in goal, posting 10 shutouts for a Redhawk men’s soccer team who advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. He was named First Team All-Conference as well as earning NSCAA Second Team All-West Region honors.

Beck and Kraft anchored a Seattle U defense that led the Redhawks to a No. 5 national ranking in shutout percentage with 13 total in 2015. Both seniors also received CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and, as defenders, each scored two goals in WAC play, just one shy of the total the team allowed in the same stretch.

Moravec led the Western Athletic Conference in points during league play, scoring seven goals and adding six assists in the same stretch (20 points). She recorded a team-high 10 goals and 32 points on the year and her 11 assists through the regular season ranked seventh best nationally at the time. She finished her senior season tied for second in Seattle U’s Division I single season assists (12), one shy of Stephanie Verdoia’s 2014 record.

The Redhawk men’s and women’s soccer teams look to improve and advance further in their respective NCAA tournaments in 2016. Stay tuned to GoSeattleU.com for the latest on each team through the offseason.
