The four members of the Seattle University swimming team who competed at the United States Winter National Championships last weekend closed out their participation with several exemplary performances at the Short Course Time Trials, held Sunday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.

Blaise Wittenauer-Lee (Portland, Ore.) set a new school record in the 400 individual medley, posting a time of 4:20.06, over six seconds quicker than the previous record established almost four years ago and over six-and-a-half seconds faster than her previous best mark set over two years ago. Wittenauer-Lee also posted a time of 1:52.20 in the 200 freestyle.

Tanner Schelling (Boise, Idaho) established the second-fastest time in the 200 breaststroke in program history, earning a personal-best mark of 2:01.29. He also came within a quarter of a second of his lifetime best time in the 100 freestyle, finishing that event in 45.69 seconds.

Jack Baldoni (Applegate, Calif.) also established a personal-best time during Sunday’s meet with a mark of 21.24 seconds in the 50 freestyle. He also came close to his lifetime best mark in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.83 seconds, just 17/100ths of a second off his personal record in the event.

Nick Connors (Richland, Wash.) also competed in the Sunday meet, earning times of 4:56.80 in the 500 freestyle and 16:26.08 in the 1650 freestyle.

The Seattle University swim team heads to Coronado Island, Calif., for its annual winter training session Dec. 13-18 before returning to competition in January. The Redhawks have one home meet remaining, a rematch with Simon Fraser University Saturday, Jan. 30, starting at 12 noon at the Connolly Center Pool.
