Moravec led the league in points during conference play, scoring seven goals and adding six assists in the same stretch (20 points). She recorded 29 points on the year and her 11 assists are seventh best in the nation among NCAA DI women’s soccer players. She also led the Redhawks with three game-winners in WAC play. Of note, one of her most significant offensive outputs came in a 4-0 win at Grand Canyon on Oct. 25 when she scored the game-winning goal, assisting the three remaining goals.
Alongside Moravec, Karli White (North Bend, Wash.), Kelly Beck (Tacoma, Wash.), and Kiana Kraft (Kent, Wash.) rounded out Seattle U’s First Team All-Conference honorees for 2015. White finishes the regular season ranked 10th in the nation in game-winning goals as a freshman, first in the league, and ranks in the top five in points and goals. Beck and Kraft recently received CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and, as defenders, each scored two goals in WAC play, just one shy of the total the team allowed in the same stretch. In defense, the backfield duo helped lead Seattle U to a No. 5 ranking in the nation in shutout percentage and 12 total shutouts through the regular season.
Newcomer Hope Fleckner (Tacoma, Wash.) and senior keeper Brianna Smallidge (Port Orchard, Wash.) earn Second Team All-WAC honors while Stephanie Spiekerman (Seattle, Wash.) is named to the list for the second year straight. Fleckner scored her first career goal as a Redhawk on Oct. 9 vs. UTRGV and ranked fourth on the team in assists in WAC play. Spiekerman was a key member of the SU backline that recorded 12 shutouts this season while, in goal, Smallidge broke both Seattle U and the WAC’s Division I records for single season shutouts and has 50 career wins to her credit.
As a team, the Redhawks outscored their opponents 26-2 in the month of October and 27-3 in WAC play. They recorded five straight shutouts from Oct. 2-Oct. 16 and rank fifth nationally in shutout percentage as well as 12th in won-lost-tied percentage.
With a 1-0 victory over Utah Valley last weekend, the Redhawks’ 12th shutout of the season, Seattle U clinched their third straight WAC regular season title and No. 1 seed and, as such, receives a first round bye in this week’s tournament. They start competition on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. PT vs. the winner of No. 4 NM State/No. 5 CSU Bakersfield with the championship match taking place on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. PT. The winner of the championship match will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, which Seattle U has earned the past two seasons.
