“We had a great weekend of tennis, starting with some quality main draw wins from Matt Alderson and Ian Clare, and ending Sunday with victories against three talented University of Portland players,” said assistant coach Matt Look. “Connor Leahy stood out with two decisive wins in consolation singles play.”
As part of the singles main draw, Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas) and Matt Alderson (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) each earned three-set victories over opponents from Sacramento State and Eastern Washington, respectively.
In Saturday’s consolation matches, Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) defeated Portland State’s Ethan Lopez, 6-3, 6-1, in straight sets while in Sunday’s consolation matches, Leahy, Clare, and John Stormans (Olympia, Wash.) earned victories.
“We played tough against some very strong opponents from some of the top schools in the country, leaving with more motivation and goals heading into the spring season,” Look concluded of the end of the fall season.
Seattle U closes the fall season and looks forward to their first spring season under new head coach Adam Reeb. The Redhawks open the spring 2016 season with a pair of Pac-12 doubleheaders at Washington (Jan. 9) and Oregon (Jan. 16).
