Seattle University men’s soccer senior forward Michael Roberts (Issaquah, Wash.) has been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 4. This is the No. 24 Redhawks’ third straight conference honor and fourth of the season.

Roberts scored three goals on the weekend, assisting two others, as the Redhawks earned a pair of victories in their conference opening weekend. On Friday, in a 5-1 win vs. UMKC, Roberts scored twice, also assisting Josh Greene’s first goal of the season. In a 2-0 shutout vs. Air Force on Sunday, Roberts scored the game-winner in the 50th minute, also assisting Hamza Haddadi’s insurance goal later in the match.

UTRGV’s Leo Castillo made five saves in the team’s 1-0 shutout at UNLV, also making six saves at Grand Canyon to be named WAC Defensive Player of the Week.

After debuting in several national polls last week, Seattle U moved up in both the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 (No. 10) and College Soccer News Top 30 (No. 13) this week. The official National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll is released every Tuesday.

After playing five of their last six games at home, the Redhawks hit the road this weekend to face Houston Baptist on Friday (5:30 pm PT) and UTRGV on Sunday (12 pm PT). SU returns home on Friday, Oct. 16 in a doubleheader with the women, hosting CSU Bakersfield at 7:30 pm.
